For the Glory of God (SU JFP Week)

The week of 04 April, a team of 5 wonderful people from SU Kampala came to Masaka to help the SU Masaka office team of Purity and me out with showing the Jesus Film. They are 5 gifted and talented people; John, BanPal, Desire, Joviet and Jude, showed up at my house on Monday night.
First thing Tuesday morning they were all excited and full of energy to go to our first school to show the Jesus Film. Despite the devil messing with the equipment and having technical issues our first school, Kijjabwemi Primary, was a success with 53 children accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior! The team continued to march through the day bonding, learning about each other and praying for the enemy to be cast out. That afternoon and evening we went to two more schools, Masaka Town College and St. Gerald’s Secondary & Vocational School, where 115 more youth gave their lives to Christ. That evening we were joined by two additional volunteers, Rogers and Dickens. As it turns out, these two men filled key rolls on the team and throughout the week. It was a long day but a blessed first day!
Our second day found the team even more excited, Spirit filled and rearing to go be God’s hands and feet. The team set out to bring the Good News to little children that day and gees did the Holy Spirit fall at our first school, Kasajjagirwa Masaka Army Barracks Primary. The whole school, all 322, said YES to Jesus. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing so we asked several times if the students were sure about their descision to accept Jesus and each time they all said yes! This just reminded me again that we serve a BIG God and He can do anything! That night we had our first outside showing of the film at St. John Paul Mugwanya Complex Primary. The logistics and tech/machine guys were fantastic that night with figuring out how we could show a film to 300 plus children on the side of a wooden slate building. No child got saved that night, as it is a catholic school, but I’m sure seeds were planted.
Our third day we woke to lots of rain but that didn’t dampen our spirits. We set off for a visit to a school that wasn’t on our agenda, a school for the deaf. We had been praying for a SU Club to be established there so we had the time and decided to go visit. Well the enemy had other plans for us. As we made our way out on a newly graded, wet, dirt road the van began to slipping from side to side. Next thing we knew we were in the ditch and the side of the van hit the high embankment. We were all safe and jumped out to see what we could do, as John tried to maneuver the van out of its precarious location. No luck! After an hour and a half of digging, rocks and brush under the tires, prayers and discussion Desire finally got the van out! It was slow going back to the main road but we “powered” through with God’s help! We ended up being late to the next school, Kaswa High School, but we were just thankful to be safe. It turns out God knew that our delay was ok because when we arrived the students were still in end of term exams. Think He was just testing our faith in Him. That afternoon two youth were saved. In the evening we went to Timothy Girls College. The school is a Christian, born again, school so we showed a different film called, A Pilgrims’ Progress. The time there was such a Blessing to the team and all the girls as it was so nice to worship, fellowship and disciple youth that knew the Lord already!
The fourth day was another busy day with three secondary schools, Hope SS, Masaka Citizens SS, and Exodus SS. It was another rainy morning and by this time the team was getting tired. That mornings prayer and devotional time was really intense, as we all knew we need God’s strength to get us through the rest of the week. All three schools we went to that day had special blessings, but the last school we went to, Exodus SS was awesome! We set up in the middle of a building courtyard outside and we crammed over 350 students into the area. The night’s events were powerful! After the film was over Rogers gave his testimony and when the Holy Spirit fell 73 students and 2 teachers gave their lives to Christ that night!!
The next day was Saturday and we headed to Kijjabwemi Secondary School. After some logistical challenges with the meeting hall we kicked the morning off. It was a good day and we were especially blessed by Reverend Patrick from the local Church of Uganda. He attended the showing of the film and spoke to the youth.
