FHLM Sept/Oct 2015 Update: Director’s News, and Jane’s Update

Director’s News:

Greetings from Masaka! Well I have been back in Uganda for a month now, after 5 weeks in the U.S. on furlough. My furlough was quit a busy one, but I was blessed by so many people, both family and friends, during my time in the U.S. It was a productive time, intertwined with bits of rest and this furlough gave FHLM the opportunity to solidify relationships and make new ones.

I would personally like to thank the following persons for without the love, support, care, pampering, housing, prayers, hospitality, and on and on, I could have never completed this furlough; Dave & Carol Bennett, Patti & Mike Fouts, Elsie Love, Chris & Frank Hartman, Pastor Robert Kloepping and the congregation at Harlan United Methodist Church, Debi Knoblauch & everyone at Harlan Christian Youth Center, Kristina & Adam Sargent, Angi Hartman-Rees, Janet & Rob Ohlig, Desmond & Nancy Wong, Michelle Mott, Pastor John Cook & Lynne Cook, Pastor Ray Bentley and the congregation of Maranatha Chapel, Pastor Darren Hall, Lee & Michael O’Day, Rob, Jackie & Blakeley Bennett, Buck & Carol Reid, Pastor Donell Burks and the staff of Calvary Worship Center, Pastor Scott Park, Robert Piercefield & family, Mike Galvin, and congregation of Impact Christian Church, and Lisa, Chelsea, Ally, Katie, and Zachary Love-Jewell. All of you in your own special way added to the joy, happiness and love I felt during my time back in the U.S. Meer words and thanks are not enough! I also praise the Lord for keeping me safe & sound during my travels all over the U.S. and for keeping me in the palm of His hand the whole time! Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. Psalm 100:4

Of course during my absence in Masaka Jane Franc kept things moving along with the youth and the ministry. Here is her update with what happened during my time away.

Social Worker’s Update:

On the 12th September, Aunt Rita, the Director Faith Hope Love Missions left for her furlough in the United States of America. Though she left, the organizational programs had to proceed on a daily basis in Uganda, because she had as well gone to hunt for the organization in the United States. Allow me give you a clue about what took place, here at FHLM Offices in Uganda, when the Director was away.

On the very Saturday she left, we had a Movie With A Message. You may ask what this is. In a month, we always have a Saturday to watch an inspirational movie with the youths, and thereafter, we share ideas about what we have learnt from the movie. On this day, we welcome all youths in Masaka just to inspire them for Jesus and watched the movie Cutback. Other activities which were done in September and October included the following;

v  Conducted J.A.M. session on the 31st October. J.A.M. stands for Jesus And Me! Amazing!!!  On this day, all youths in the town came and expressed themselves in different talents like in music, dance, drama, poetry among others. It was JAM reloaded!

v  Conducted the October Movie with a Message on the 17ththis very month. We watched the movie Home Run. About a man suffering from alcoholism and how he gave his life to Jesus.

v  Led the FHLM youths to Mulago hospital to visit and pray for the sick in the Male Ward in Sept & Oct to the Female Ward. We designed cards with encouraging scriptures for them.

v  Carried on Bible study classes and shared the word with the youths.

v  Visited the youths at their respective schools and checked on both their health and performance.

v  Banked school fees and tuition fees balances for the youths. Thank you for your support for without God’s blessing through you this would not happen!!

v  Assessed the youths every week on health, academics, and general environment of home & school.

v  Lectured Cephas, one of our youths, in Mathematics, 3 days a week.

v  Led the youths in life skills and craft lessons, every Friday of the week.

v  Ran all the day today activities of the organization.

v  Visited Babirye’s new home in New-Kumbu, and carried out an assessment about her new residence.

v  One of our youths got a problem with his eyes, and I had to take him to Kitovu hospital for treatment.

v  Attended the Masaka secondary school visitation day on 10 Oct and obtained the students reports and talked to their class teachers.

We give God the glory, for all the above activities were done by His grace and His guiding hand. COMPILED BY JANE FRANC NABUKENYA.

As you can see much went on during Sept and Oct when I was gone. I thank God for Jane and all that the Lord accomplished through her in my absence. And in that day you will say: “Praise the Lord, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted.” Isaiah 12:4

May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving and as you prepare for Christmas and the celebration of the coming of our Lord Jesus, may He bless you and keep you all!

Love and blessings,

Rita-Director Faith Hope Love Missions
