FHLM December Update: Healing, Work Permit, Youth Update, Christmas!

Happy New Year Everyone! I hope and pray this update finds you all grand! Here is what transpired with us in December:

Unfortunately the first week of December found our whole family sick with the flu, well except for Rock, he was much worse, as he had contracted malaria. But after we all saw the doctor and got treatment we were on the mend. We all thank God for quick healing!

After many months of prayers and visits to Kampala it is wonderful to have my passport back in hand, with a 3 year work permit from our organization, Faith Hope Love Missions! I thank the Lord for the miracle, favor, provision and all the people that the Lord used to make this happen, may our Lord richly bless you!

On 19 Dec. Aunt Liz and I traveled to Kampala for last minute Christmas shopping, and a few meetings. Oh that day I was blessed to be able to meet up with a fellow Hoosier, JT King. JT was in Uganda for a month doing mission work. We had a lovely lunch and afternoon chatting about how the Lord is working in Indiana and Uganda alike. I am always amazed at how the Lord brings brothers and sisters from around the world together for His glory!

Youth Update: Starting on 09 Dec FHLM held the 1st session of Equip Youth Leadership classes by John Maxwell. Our theme for the 1st Session was “God Called Us To Lead”.  Over the 6 days of training the youth learned that leadership development is not an “event” but a “process” and as a student of leadership we are to “Be a part of the process. Learn it. Live it. Pass it on to others!”  Each day that I taught I could see the youth growing and the process of leadership taking hold of their hearts and minds. We had two teachers Pastor Tom and Miss. Rachel. I want to thank them for their insightful and God driven teaching. Both the youth and myself are looking forward to Session 2 in 1st Term Holiday.

We are still in need of a full time sponsor for Biberye’s secondary school fees. As an organization we are stepping out in faith and enrolling her in Secondary 3 when the new school year commences at Masaka SS in February, but I am asking you to please pray about sponsoring her full time. The costs of her school fees are $178.00 for 1st Term—this includes all the new student enrollment fees and uniform. The fees for 2nd and 3rd terms are $100.00 for each term. If you wish to have more information like a breakdown of costs or if God puts on your heart to sponsor her please contact me via e-mail at reetsindiego@yahoo.com. Thank you and God Bless!

On 27 Dec. we celebrated Rock’s birthday! We had a very special birthday party for him at my house. I say special because this year his Mother, half-brother & half-sister were able to attend, along with about 10 of his friends. Many of the guests, including Rock’s Mom, made the evening amazing by sharing in speeches how much Rock has meet to them and how he has grown into a spiritual and Godly young man. It was a lovely night!!

Project News: Our 1st FHLM Christmas Party was held on 14 Dec. We had a short board meeting in the morning and then the holiday fun commenced! Some of the FHLM partner organizations were also in attendance, Soweto Youth Fellowship and Abanna Uganda. It was a fun filled day

On behalf our entire family (Rogers, Rock, David, & me) we wish to send a BIG THANK YOU out to Maranatha Chapel and the Missions IMPACT Team for sending our family an amazing Christmas package! We were ALL blessed beyond measure! I thank you for letting the Lord use you to answer our prayers and for making our Christmas extra special! God Bless you so much!!!

That said our family Christmas was extra special this year! Rock, David and I spent the days leading up to Christmas baking cookies, and pastries. It brought a lot of joy to my heart spending some quality time in the kitchen with them and of course we all enjoyed the yummy outcome!! Christmas Eve was spent at the house with the members of our “household”; Dave, Jacqui, Rogers, Rock, David, Julius and me. We enjoyed a Christmas Eve lasagna and lively conversation over dinner. After dinner Dave read to the family from Luke 2 about the birth of Jesus. Christmas morning we woke to no power, but prayers were answered because when we returned from the Christmas church service the power was on—praise God for that!!

Afternoon lunch was full of lively conversation, and many traditional British Christmas foods mixed with great Ugandan food—a very international meal. We were extra blessed with having Pastor Tom and his new wife, Vicki, and Aunt Liz and her youth, Christopher, with all of us. The evening was spent opening presents, Christmas Socks, chatting, laughing, and watching Christmas movies and of course more eating!

All in all the month of December was very joyous for me and my family here! I thank the Lord all of you and for His abundant provision, protection, and love He has given us through you! But most of all I thank God for His Son, Jesus Christ, that He brought into this world for our salvation. May your New Year be blessed beyond measure!

Love and blessings,

Rita
