Greetings from Masaka!

Well a lot has been going on since I updated you all last. Married life is treating Rogers and I well. We are adjusting to life together and happy with all the blessings this new life is bringing us.

David & Rock are back in school for their 2nd Term which started on 14 May. Their beginning of term exams are now finished and so it is on to new learning new things. David has found being in Secondary 5, which is Advanced High School level, quite a challenge. But with the adjustment of his class combination we are hoping that he will settle into high school and advance in his learning. David is still involved with the football academy and the school cross-country team. In fact on 26 May he had a meet in which 100 students participated. Despite having a cold that day he came in 8th Place! I was very proud of him and to think if he wasn’t sick he could have came in 1st Place.

With the start of 2nd Term, FHLM was able to bring three new little boys, Jacob (P3), Andrew (P1), Luwege (Nursery), under SOAR Program. The three boys come from a very vulnerable situation. Their mother has passed away, their father has been pronounced mentally disabled and they are living with their poor and elderly grandmother. We thank their new sponsor so much for helping them attend school. The three are attending school at Mustard Seed Nursery School and Police Primary, both in Kimannya Parish.

FHLM had several prayers answered in the last two months. Rock’s bike was able to be fixed with new tires, spokes, and brakes. Now he is able to ride his bike weekly, instead of walk to the nearby town of Ssaza to see his terminally ill mother. FHLM was also blessed with a 3 in-one printer! This is a much needed item for both the Scripture Union and FHLM Ministries. Having the printer has already saved both time and money for the organizations. We thank very much the persons who donated the money for both of these prayer requests!!

I have been back in the office and working hard! Between Scripture Union (S.U.) and FHLM we have many projects and programs going on in the next few months. Purity and I have been organizing the S.U. National Mission, planned for 17-30 June. This Mission will be in and around the Masaka District, including 4 of the new districts in the region. The team of 25 will be made up of volunteers from all regions of Uganda. The team will be showing the Jesus Film and ministering to both secondary youth and primary school children. We are hoping to reach 61 schools in the two week mission.

We are also planning, preparing, and mobilizing for, our annual S.U. One Day Youth Conference on 21 July, our Camp Facilitators Training the week of July 23 and our S.U. Residential Youth Camp August 03-08 6 at Kako Secondary School in Masaka Region. We are hoping and praying for 300 youth to be at camp.

Along with all the S.U. preparation, FHLM has Kingdom House of Prayer-San Diego (KHOPSD) arriving on 31st July in Masaka for 2 ½ weeks with a team of 8 to 12 person. I have been developing the team’s evangelism, and outreach program along with all of their logistics scheduling for their time here in Masaka.

As you can see the Lord is moving and shaking in Masaka and we are so excited and happy to be a part of all He is doing!

I pray that all of you are doing wonderful and are truly Blessed by the Lord! Thank you for all your prayers!
In His Grip,
Rita
