Wind of Change
From 02-07 Dec the boys from FHLM, two girls from H.U.G. (Help Uganda), and myself attend Scripture Union (SU) Camp at Gayaza High School in Kampala. This was a year for “change”! Scripture Union always calls this annual camp a “transformers camp” but this year there was a larger change in the air. As I watched the campers register I saw new, young faces, faces that had never attended a SU camp before, and I knew they were going to be in impacted. As I looked around I did not see the previous team of SU volunteer facilitators. There was also a whole new staff of facilitators and that leads to new ideas, new formats and different personalities in the mix. This was definitely a year for change!
Some people think change is bad but to me change is good! It leads people to grow, experience and understand life in a whole new way. This year’s camp was certainly a change for the good! Each day the morning and evening Transformers Series sessions the speaker did a alter call and this year many, many young people came to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I think I personally counted 55 young people that gave their life to Christ. I was on the counseling team, so after the alter calls I was able to personally pray with the young people. Those that accepted were then taken to a room for prayer and counseling. During one of the times there was one girl in particular that impacted me, her name was Rachael. After I did our closing prayer she was standing in front of me weeping. I took her into my arms to comfort her and pray for her and she began to manifest a spirit and then she collapsed in my arms. I lowered her onto the flow as I continued to pray for the spirit to leave her. The spirit finally left and she lay motionless on the floor. I knew she was finally at peace in her heart and soul and that Christ had filled her with His Holy Spirit!! It was joyous for me to know she is now truly in God’s hands!
