In Masaka
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while! As of late last Monday evening I’m in Masaka…got in about 7:30pm. Pastor Tom and Pastor Sam Mugulusi picked me up in Entebbe at the hotel. I stayed at the hotel for 5 days but it seemed like 3 because I slept most of the time! Coming this way, and a 18 hour flight the jet lag was terrible. π I got my 9 bags in the house that night and Liz my housemate greeted me with open arms. She is great! I spent Tues, Wed, and Thurs unpacking and getting settled.
On Tues afternoon Tom brought a car over to the house and we went to get my things that were still at Door of Hope. Jim greeted us at the gate with a hug & “it’s good to see another Muzungo”…thank God it was good cause I was a little worried. π We didn’t talk much at all, just small talk. Then Fatumah the house girl, who is staying there full time, and I got the things around and packed in my old room as Jim and Tom talked in the sitting room. The guys did help with the heavy things and we were out of there. However have things for the kids so Jim did invite me to dinner on Saturday to give them the things and see the kids. When we were leaving Robert greeted us on the road and welcomed me back. He along with 5 other children have been removed from the DOH house; Rock, John Travis, David, Winnie, and Imelda.
Robert came with us to the house and helped unload the car. Then John Travis showed up and we all chated. I guess the word was out that I was back because right after they left the 4 boys that remain at DOH showed up at my gate to welcome me back: Matthew, Moses, Johnny, and Rob. It was SO good to see them but the greeting was short lived because it was coming to dusk and they had to get home for fear of getting in trouble. π
Then who shows up but Rock! Oh my, he looks good and then David came over and we all chatted until late. Rock and David are staying down the road from me at Mama Florence’s house. She took them in along with John Travis when they were kicked out. As of today Rock and David are back in school thanks to their determination and the financial help of Auntie Able, Mama Florence and Auntie Ritah. John Travis has decided to move in with a buddy of his in town and is helping sell matooke. I took all 4 boys, Travis, Rock, David and Robert, to lunch on Sat, encouraging them and talking. They have all given me their account of the things that have happened since my trip back to the states. It broke my heart to hear those things and the details. π
As for the 2 girls, Winnie and Imelda, that were removed from DOH the boys say that Winnie is back in the village living with her Auntie but don’t know were Imelda is. I’m still inquiring in town and searching for her. π Please pray she is safe and with a good family. Thanks!
Well that’s is just a little of what’s been going on with me. Thank you all for your prayers!! I’ll try and post more as life is setteling down a bit π
