World Cup Buzz!

There has been such a BUZZ about the World Cup in Africa and no, it is not just those silly horns you hear at the matches! Being in Uganda has been a great experience of the continent, communities and people coming together. There is a FICA World Cup billboard in Kampala that says…We all have different flags but we are now UNITED. It is so cool to see that and think about, since there has been so much war and strife on this continent for thousands of years! To think a game of football can actually unite a continent. Well let’s pray it does!
I’ve never been a football (soccer) fan until this year and it wasn’t World Cup that got me into the game but the boys I help. We’ve started this tradition that every Sunday after church we go out to Banana Chick for a late lunch and watch football. I started out watching the Premier Leagues like; Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid or Chelsea with little interest. I’d go watch mostly for the boy’s sake but after a few months it was me saying, “hey ready for the match”, getting into the games and learning the players. Then of course World Cup came along and I really found myself wanting to see the games. Of course the boys want to go but I’m the one knowing the schedule and who won. Guess I’m a fan now!
