Tuesday Bible Study Update
Yesterday the guys, Rock, David, and Travis came over for a American/Italian dinner of spagehtti and bread…yummy! After our dinner and fellowship we jumped into praise and worship. I’ve uploaded my Wow Worship CDs onto my computer so we are using those songs as our worship learder. It was so good to break out in Praise to the Lord!
Then it was time to dig into the Word. Last night we were in Jeremiah 2: 1-13. I chose to stop with verse 13 because there was so much to dig into. Reading verse 2 we talked about our original commitments to the Lord, when we got born again. It was so wonderful to hear the guys talk about when they gave themselves to the Lord and He became their first love. After much discussion over the remaining verses we stuck on what I think our “key verse” was for the study . 13 “They have forsaken me-the fountian of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns that can hold no water at all!”
All the guys had good insight on this verse, but David had a great point that the Holy Spirit that lives in us fills us up like the “fountian of living water” that the Lord talked about. We also refered back to the New Testament verse of John 4:13-14. “Jesus replied, “People soon become thirsty again after drinking this water. But the water I give them takes away thirst altogether. It becomes a perpetual spring within them, giving them enternal life.” Of course, this verse sparked even more discussion about how “water is life” and the “Lord is our source of life” I had a very good feeling, like Holy Spirit bumps, after our study. God is so Good!!
