Political Fever

Uganda is gearing up for the 2011 elections and Masaka is no exception. It has been a hot bed of political campaigning. Uganda has 5 major political parties; NRA, DP, FDC, IP and PPP and they are all hitting the campaign trail hard! Masaka has had the 3 main Presidential candidates in town in the last few months, current president, Musuveni, Besijye, and Mawo. This has brought politics to a fever pitch. Every week there has been rallies at the local parks in support of Local Councilmen or Members of Parliament. The boda bodas have been racing up & down the main streets hooting horns and waving tree branches in support of their favorite candidates! We’ve even had a few candidates show up in church for prayers and support. As you can see campaigning is going on everywhere! Please stand in prayer with us that the elections in February are free and fare and very peaceful.
