Grasshopper Season

Grasshopper Catchers

Yes, I really said, grasshopper season! 🙂 Masaka is the “Grasshopper Capital” of Uganda. There are two season for grasshoppers or nseenene, as they are called in Luganda. This season dozens of grasshopper catchers have popped up on rooftops all over Masaka. It actually makes Masaka look like a city with all the lights at night! Here is a picture of the catchers and all the grasshoppers flying around. By the way, they taste like shrimp—that is if they are cooked right 🙂
