GIFT OF LOVE-Christmas 2011

As an American by mid-November my head was already filled with all the things I had to do for the Holidays; buying presents, Christmas cards, Holiday parties, cooking, family gatherings. And no thanks to the departments stores I had been bombarded with “Christmas” long before Halloween came and my sense of urgency of the pending Holiday was imbedded in my mind. I would wonder “what shall I get Dad, the man who has everything,….my Brother, I can’t get him another sweater”. Then a few years before coming to Uganda as a full time missionary I started donating a portion of that “present money” or even all of it to a charity organization or a Christian foreign aid organization in my family’s name or in the person’s name. I realized it would do far better work and much more help than buying a sweater that gets shoved in a closet and put on maybe once a year!!

So think about it; “Are going to purchase that sweater for your brother again this year or could that money be of better help with the on-going programs here in Uganda that Faith Hope Love Missions is providing and working on?”

If you are asking well what does my money do? How can my $10 or $15 help? Well it helps A LOT!!! $10 U.S. it like 24,000 shillings!! Here is just a bit of what it does:

FHLM Youth- Provision of Meals, Housing, Medical, and General living expenses
Scripture Union- Youth Secondary School Discipleship Ministry Programs, Jesus Film Outreaches, Leadership & Life-Skill Training, Youth Counseling, One-Day Conferences, SU Youth Camps
FHLM Youth- “Spread Their Wings” School Sponsorship Program
FHLM Community Outreach- Helping village Woman’s Groups with small business training and programs
