FHLM Update January 2014-Happy New Year, Old Friends, Prayer Retreat, Office, Darren O. Back

Happy New Year! I hope and pray that 2014 has started out for ALL of you, as being a very blessed year thus far and you are all looking forward to what the Lord will bring you to and through you in this New Year.

My first 4 days of the New Year started out on a low note; as colitis I was diagnosed with 7 years ago kicked in with the most sever attack I had experienced in 5 years. After much rest, medicine, and prayer I was on the mend, knowing that 2014 could only get better!! As it says in Isaiah 58:8; Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

After I got better I had the pleasure of meeting up with old friends Jim and Robyn Fruehan. They have been in Masaka for a visit and to serve with another ministry the last few months. I served with them in 2009, as a full time missionary. During that year, 2009, God allowed me to find my calling of ministering and discipleing youth. It was so nice to catch up with them and see what God has been doing in all our lives over the last 3 years. I thank the Lord for His restoration of old friendships.

Youth Update: From 10-12 January FHLM had our 1st Annual Youth Prayer Retreat Camp-Out weekend. I praise the Lord for a generous donation that allowed this weekend to happen! The weekend consisted of prayer, fasting, praise & worship, morning Glory, Bible study, and lots of Spiritual fun with our Lord!! God blessed so many of the youth that attend by taking many to new encounters and greater strength with Him during our prayer and fasting times. During our games time we had great fun playing football (soccer), tossing around the American football and cheering those playing the very close and competitive matches. Saturday afternoon we participated in art workshops of collage, bead making and wood carving. This allowed all of us to explore our God given talents and open up to talents we’d never used before.  On Saturday night after our fun time of praise & worship and eating marshmallows sent from the U.S., we entered into a time of sharing our testimonies. One of the young men in attendance re-dedicated his life to the Lord. After several hours of sharing we began a group prayer. As we held hands around the fire and began to pray God manifested Himself in the weather. The wind began to blow fiercely, the clear starry, night sky became black and the moon was dashed out! We all continued to pray intensely and after some minutes passed the wind died and I looked up and the sky was clear as a bell again. God is SO AWESOME! On Sunday morning we were all blessed to have Pastor Frank from Masaka Pentecostal Church teach us and preach the Word of God. His theme for us all was, Revelation of Ourselves and Our Desires. Pastor’s practical relation to the youth’s lives really touched them. I pray FHLM can continue this life changing prayer retreat every January!

Please continue to keep our new SOAR youth, Babireye, in prayer. Her Grandmother, whom she had been living with since she was 5 years old, pasted away from cancer on 11 Jan. Her living situation was very unsettled until after a family meeting of her aunties and uncles. It was decided that she live with a local council member, as none of her family would take her in, thus leading her to become a ward of the district. As you can imagine life moving forward is very uncertain for her right now, but pray that the Lord gives her peace to know He is her Father, with her, and He has already planned her future and will guide her. Thank you!

Rock spent the week of 20 Jan. at the G.R.I.P. (God Revealed In Power) youth conference at Masaka Pentecostal Church. He was asked to be part of the registration and leadership team. He said that the week was full of God’s prophetic utterance upon his life and a new boost to his Spirit. Rock starts 1st Term of Secondary 4 on 03 Feb. Please pray that the Lord continue to guide his steps through this very important year of school. Thanks!

The week of 20 Jan David was invited to join Youth Entrepreneurship Development seminar put on by the Ugandan Ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development. I was very proud that he was selected from many applicants to attend the training.  Than the week of 27 Jan, David was invited to be the “official” camp photographer for the week long H.U.G. camp-out, giving him much exposure and experience for his chosen career path. We are so thankful for the doors God is opening up for him.

FHLM Office Woes: Much to our dismay our FHLM office woes continued. Since the landlord had still not restored the power after 4 months we were forced to move out on 25 Jan. For 3 weeks prior to that I and the other ministry director we co-share office space with looked at 6 different property locations. Five of the properties we looked at were either too much money, too much work needed or an inappropriate location. However we have found one place, a house, which could not only accommodate the offices but make the “dream” of the Masaka Youth Center a reality!! The only catch is that we were shy 150,000 shillings ($60.00 U.S.) per month to make this happen. On 24 Jan. God answered my prayers and we were pledged the 150,000 for at least the next 6 months! If the Lord puts on your heart to help the youth of Masaka Youth Center with continued projects or help with the rent then please contact me at reetsindiego@yahoo.com  Bless you!

Missionary Update: Halleluiah, Darren O. is back in Masaka! On 24 Jan. we (Rogers, Rock, David and I) picked up Darren at the Entebbe airport. Darren served with both FHLM and Tabernacle Church last year, when he was in Uganda for 4 months. He has returned to serve for another 6 months with Rogers and me. I am so excited to see all that the Lord is going to continue to do through the Holy Spirit and heart of this man.

As the Lord leads us all into a New Year and another month, I thank you all for your support, love and prayer that you have so generously blessed the ministry and me with. I am so very excited to see ALL the Lord has in store for the ministry in 2014—I feel this is going to be a year of BIG things from our Lord!

Have a wonderful day!!

Love and blessings,

Rita
