FHLM October Update-Family, 50 Years for Uganda & Prayer Request

Greetings from Masaka!!

The month of October started off with several parental responsibilities for me. David & Rock had their 3rd Term Parent/Guardian Visitation Day on 06 Oct at school. We had an enjoyable afternoon walking around the campus and visiting their class teachers. The following Saturday was David & Rock’s Prefect Handover party. This means that despite doing their prefect responsibilities for the last 3 months, they are officially recognized in the position that day. It was quit an exciting day of food, speeches, gifts and recognition for them!

09 Oct marked 50 years of Independence for Uganda. It was the countries Golden Jubilee Celebration! Even though Masaka didn’t see the big celebrations and the weeks of jubilee events leading up to the 9th that the countries capital, Kampala, did there was still a sense of excitement in the air around Masaka Town. On that day I attended a Business Lecture put on by the High Achievers ministry of Masaka Pentecostal Church and Brooklyn Tabernacle, New York. The lecture focused on the Biblical way to run a business with talks on; Involving God in Our Business, Corporate Level Management, Resource Management, Budgeting, Ethics, Marketing & Customer Care. That evening we had a BIG Independence Day dinner at Dave and Jacqui Dowdy’s house. It was a wonderful fellowship time with family, good friends and great food!

I was invited by Maranatha Chapel, my home church in San Diego, to attend the Anne Graham Lotz Woman’s Conference in Kampala on 20 Oct. Anne spoke to us, the woman of Uganda, about “Hope for Tomorrow”, which is what so many of the woman in this country need to hear and cling to. Anne spoke powerfully about the scene at the Cross. She spoke of it being Friday when our Lord was crucified but Sunday was coming! Each of us go through trails, bad things, painful times, but are we still clinging to our Friday?—our cross? Or do we know that our Sunday–our resurrection, freedom, rebirth has come? Her message was so deeply touching to me and brilliantly spoken. I wish I could get a video of the conference to show to the woman in the villages of Uganda, because they need to hear this message and know that there is HOPE. That their Sunday is here!!

On a personal note, the last two weeks of October were very hard for me health wise. I have been in and out of clinics and hospitals in both Masaka and Kampala in the last weeks. When doing an ultra sound for a female issue, the technician found a mass on my liver node. The doctors are sure it is a cyst caused by parasites, but it is big and needs removed. Please pray for God’s wisdom for the doctors and that God’s healing hand touch me and remove the cyst, so no surgery needs to be done. Thank you!

May God richly bless you all and continue to guide your lives.
Rita
