FHLM March Update-Rain, Meetings, Will I stay or will I go?, Easter, & Prayer Request

Hello everyone and Greetings from Masaka!

Well our prayers have been answered; the rains have come to Masaka! Since the first of March it has rained almost every day—not just rained but rained cat & dogs & even at times cows!

The month has been full of meetings preparing for the Kingdom House of Prayer missionary team that arrives in June. Most of the meetings have been in preparation for a three day Unity in the Body of Christ Conference that we are going to have. I have had conference informational meetings with several Church of Uganda Reverends and even the West Buganda Dioceses Bishop, Rt. Rev. Godfrey Makumbi. There have also been several planning meetings with Pastor Gustavus Kateregga, the chairman for the Masaka District Ministries Fellowship (MDMF). We pray that with God’s wisdom, guidance, and provision this conference will be a success and we will see unity in the body and softening of the hearts of our fellow Christian brothers and sisters toward each other.

The big question of the month has been; Will I stay or will I go to the U.S.? Since January my travel agent and I have been trying to resolve this British Airways ticket issue. On 13 March I got word to be prepared that I was probably going to be flying to the states on Monday the 18th. After months of waiting I was excited, but in a tizzy trying to prepare to go! Then I got word on that Friday that I wouldn’t go and that BA would let me know the dates. The travel agent is now saying that I should be flying out on 24 April, but we are still waiting on British Airways to issue the ticket. As you can see it has been a rollercoaster ride, but I know through this entire thing God has a plan and He has perfect timing. Please keep this issue in prayer for me. Thank you!

Despite all that is going on there were two great things about me still being in Uganda. The first was that I was able to spend the Easter holiday with my family. We had a wonderful Good Friday! We all (me, Rogers, and the guys Rock, Julius & David) went to our ex-pat friends, Jacqui and Dave Dowdy’s house and had a Good Friday Service, complete with communion. Jacqui shared a bit and then Rogers, my husband, preached/taught. It was brilliant to share, pray, and take communion together!

That Saturday Rogers and some other brothers in Christ had a Fun Day at Lake Nabugabo with 15 children from our Tabernacle Church Children’s Ministry. They played on the swings, played volleyball and swam in the lake for the first time in their lives! That day I spent the afternoon looking at properties for the future FHLM Masaka Youth Center. One of the properties located in the heart of Masaka town had the most potential! The building would allow FHLM to provide a centralized area to access the large youth population of Masaka, 82% age 1-30 years. This building would give us office space, and classroom areas to share the Gospel, along with a myriad of programs to disciple and train the youth.

Easter Sunday Rogers and I went to our church and he preached. Then in the evening the whole family, along with Pastor Tom, were back at J&D’s for a big Easter Dinner. It was so lovely to have our Ugandan family all together for the holidays. The second good thing about still being in Uganda was that Rogers and I were also able to celebrate our 1st Year Wedding Anniversary. Since our anniversary fell on Easter Sunday, we actually celebrated on Easter Monday the 1st. I thank God everyday for the amazing man that I was so blessed to be marry, for his heart for the Lord, and for me! God is so good!

As you can see March has had its challenges, but the blessings FAR outweigh the challenges! I thank God for the growth He has given me in my walk this month and the faith and strength to overcome the challenges. Please continue to keep the below request in pray. Thank you and God Bless you all!
Rita
