FHLM JUNE 2025 NEWSLETTER

GREETINGS:

Greetings from Masaka! The month of June has been full of God’s grace! We have been very blessed and praise God for all He is doing for the youth and the ministry. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8

DIRECTORS UPDATE:

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS: In Uganda the month of June is full of public holidays. On the 3rd we remembered the fallen Uganda Martyrs. On 06th June the Muslim community celebrated Eid-Adha. Then on 9th June we commemorated the fallen soldiers and others that contributed to the countries freedom with Hero’s Day.

FHLM BOARD MEETING: We had a very productive meeting on 07th June. We went through the 2024 Annual Report, reviewed the 1st Term Youth Assessments, and discussed some amendments to the university students MOU and family contributions. I thank all the local board members for their continued service and commitment to the ministry. God Bless you!

PRAYER: On the 11th I and the staff had an all-day Prayer & Fasting Day up at Kako Prayer Mountain.  When we reached Aunt Juliet opened in prayer and then I gave a Word from Psalm 100:1-5. My theme was the Goodness of the Lord. After the word and some discussion we prayed for specific prayer requests for the youth, the ministry and other items. Then we went into individual prayer time for the next few hours. The prayer mountain is such an amazing place to enter into God’s presence. What a joyful day with the Lord! When we reached back to Masaka we broke fast at Valley Cave Restaurant.

SOCIAL WORKER: Since 2nd Term has begun Aunt Shakirah has started weekly Home Visits to the SOAR Youth’s parents or guardians to assess their living situations, conditions, and gather important information for the ministry.

She also attended a Parents’ Meeting at Masaka Secondary School for Secondary 1 and 5 students on 13th June. During the meeting the head teacher and headmaster thanked the parents for having chosen their school, and encouraged the students to focus on their academic career. They also discussed several requirements based on the students subjects, said that birth certificates are compulsory for S.5 students and that they are also beginning weekend studies. We thank Shakiriah for her due diligence.

LOSS: On the evening of 16th June we received some very bad news. Shakirah’s pastor, George, had died. He had been sick and on the 12th traveled back to his home country of Nigeria for more tests. But he passed away the morning of the 16th.

That evening as Shakirah was at the church with others from the congregation praying about the loss of Pastor George, she received a call that her Mom, Jane, had died.  Her mom had a stroke a few years ago and has been in and out of hospital recently. These were two heavy blows for her and her family! May you please continue to lift Shakirah, her husband Julius, her family, and the church, Latter Glory Assembly, up in prayer. Thank you!

YOUTH UPDATE:

UNIVERSITY YOUTH: Thank you for your prayers! Justine finally got an internship at Assistance to Vulnerable Elderly and Children (AVEC) international NGO. She will be with them from June 11th to July 20th, collecting data on vulnerable elderly and children within Kampala.

Immy was disappointed by the Bishop Stuart University. She had been preparing to sit for the law pre-entry exam at the university, then a few days before her exam I contacted the head of the law faculty with some questions. Needless to say, after the register had accepted her, the head of the department refused her acceptance into the degree program saying that her Advanced Level marks did not meet the universities criteria. We were both shocked by this news, left questioning everything, and asking God what next?

We prayed a lot and then settled upon Kampala International University (KIU), where Justine goes. Immy went to the university, applied, and she was accepted into the Faculty Of Law for a 4 year degree. We thank God for His guidance and answered prayers.

BIRTHDAYS: On 18th June Justine celebrated her 23rd birthday! Though she was in Kampala and we couldn’t celebrate with her we thanked God for her life and sent her well wishes.

Then on 26th June William turned 21! We celebrated his birthday on the 28th with cake, balloons and a few rounds of Happy Birthday!! I thank God for both of these young people’s lives and all He is doing in and through them. May He continue to be their center and give them a long, beautiful life.

YOUTH PROGRAMS:

BIBLE STUDIES: In the month of June we studied the chapters of Exodus 4 to 7. The Study on 10th June was in Exodus 4:1-31. Ronnie opened in prayer and then we each read verses. I did a brief explanation of the chapter and discussed the signs of God’s power.

  • Shakirah shared about the scripture in verses 1-3. She said we see that we should be with something for us to start with and clear things. We saw that God doesn’t work in “the what ifs”, He means what He says.
  • Eddy said Moses got lax with the command of circumcision in verse 21-26 and he disobeyed but Zipporah, his wife, discerned the issues and saved Moses.
  • Ronald talked about verses 21 & 22 and how Moses doubted God and had many excuses. We should never doubt, be confident!
  • Mark shared about verse 10, and Moses’ disobedience limited himself and then God assigned Aaron and Aaron then received some of Moses blessings. He said we need to trust God and let him lead us.
  • Pamela talked about verse 2 and how God wanted to use Moses to rescue his people. She asked us, what do we have for God wants to use you? What thing can God use to manifest His power in you?? The small things we have can be used, so we are never to despise a small beginning.
  • Pius supplemented, that however much we yarn and search, we must be in position for a miracle. Like the miracles of Lazarus, he had to die before Jesus could resurrect him, and there had to be a storm before Jesus walked on water. He also said that in verse 14 God’s hand of power and help was there to answer Moses plea.

OFF-SITE EVENT: On 14 June we all went to Sound of Worship at Laston Gardens in Masaka. The days’ theme was Psalms 86:9 All nations whom You have made Shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And shall glorify Your name.

All of our youth and staff, along with Uncle Julius attended the event. I’m so grateful to Pastor Julius Kintu for his vision, and for all that served that day; the pastors’, singers, media team, ushers, worship crew, and the team from Costa Mesa, CA. It was a gift to worship the Lord alongside such talented and dedicated people. Our own Pamela was part of the mass choir and several other youth that come to the Centre were part of the dance team and the choir. It was an amazing experience for Masaka….I would say that on that day the sound of worship was released in Masaka and we bless the Lord for it! May the revival continue!

HOSPITAL OUTREACH: On 22nd June 2025 Aunt Juliet led the team of Pamela, Mark, Ronald, Pius, and William. Before they set off theycommitted the outreach day to God in prayer. They visited the mothers in the maternity ward at the hospital. They had to request permission from doctor on the duty and he allowed them to see the mothers.

The team prayed for the mothers and they also gave them the baby caps which the youth and staff had crocheted. Several of the moms said their babies were still in nursery for special care and treatment because they were premature and some other health complications. The team prayed for their babies to get well and dedicated their lives to God for healing. They also prayed for the mother’s provision and their need. They really enjoyed their time sharing and care for the mom’s and the babies. We glorify God of the universe because everything in it belongs to Him.

BROTHERS IN CHRIST: By God’s grace on Saturday the 27th Eddy led 16 young men through the day’s program and gave this feedback. Our program was more of interaction, where the youths went on and spoke their minds concerning relationships and sexual purity!! We had many guiding verses from the Bible. Their takeaway was to go back home, and talk to God personally, to surrender all those addictions that are in our lives. The target we set, is to begin the second half of the year when we are new!! The program was good and powerful, the guys were really happy, enjoyed and learnt from each other. One young man, Zimbe, gave this testimony—“Let me take this opportunity to appreciate the entire ministry of Brothers In Christ for the support of acknowledging our needs, and brushing our minds with the light of the gospel. Today has been awesome and in all I’m grateful”.

BELA BULUNGI (GOOD-BYE):

I thank you all for your continued prayers, love, care, and encouragement!! You are all a blessing to the ministry and the youth and I thank you! May God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand!

Love and Blessings,

Rita Bulegeya
