FHLM June 2014 Update-Ministry Update, Youth Update, Missionary Update
Greetings from Masaka! The month of June has been fun and rather busy! I have been very blessed and praise God for all He is doing for me, the family, the youth and the FHLM Ministry. Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Psalm 34:8
Ministry Update:
We had a very productive FHLM Board Meeting on 07 June. I thank all the local board members for their continued service and commitment to the ministry. God Bless you!
The Office/Center mural in our Training Room was finally finished the end of June with the additions of the Word of the Lord on the walls. A BIG thanks goes out to ALL the people that contributed to making this beautiful art piece a reality; David Mukisa, Sylvia Faith, John Egemu, Christopher Mawjje, Mukisa Rock, Darren O, Amanda, Angie, Shona, Joe, Leah, and Brian. Thank you ALL for making this a very happy room!!
Youth Update:
Rock had his Prefect Levers Party 03 June. He has now turned over his Assist Head Boy position and is pushing toward his goal of completing Secondary 4 with high marks! I forgot to tell you all that Rock joined Uganda Scouts Association at the end of 1st Term. In July he will be competing in a Scouts Camporee with his troop against other troops in the Masaka Region. I will keep you posted on how they do and if they advance to Nationals in Kampala.
Babirye has been doing well and she is enjoying her classes. She has recently taken on the responsibility of leading the new FHLM Youth Choir—yet to be named. Singing is one of her passions and she hopes the group will be a success. Both Rock and Babirye had parent Visitation Day on 28 June at their school, Masaka SS. The day was spent watching the student intramural Houses compete against each other in athletics and football (soccer) and then meeting with teacher and getting their beginning of term test scores.
David has been busy with photography jobs for the local secondary schools, taking pictures for their field-trips, hand-over and levers parties. He has been active promoting his business and praying that it continues to grow. He has also researched courses at three universities within Masaka to attend one of them in late August to study Mass Communications. We are still reviewing all the data he has gotten and will make a final decision in July.
Faridah is back from her 2nd Semester at Uganda College of Commerce-Pakwach. We have a praise reports from her. In her 1st Semester she received 4.6 out of 5, yes she is a very bright young lady! She also took on the responsibility of heading up the prayer team for the college’s Christian Union. During her holiday time back in Masaka she will be assisting FHLM with our youth after-school program and our 2nd Term Holiday programs.
Please pray about becoming a full time sponsor for either Faridah or Babirye. They are both wonderful young ladies that the Lord is using mightily for His Kingdom! If you decide on becoming a full time sponsor please contact me at; reetsindiego@yahoo.com. Thanks!
Our Youth of Destiny—After-School program started on 13 June. We have been meeting every Monday and Friday from 5:30-6:45pm. On Mondays we have a Tea Time Bible Study and we have Fun Fridays with God, teaching Biblical Life-skills through games. Please continue to pray for the youth that God wants to attend and for wisdom and guidance for the leadership team. Thank you!
On 21 June we had our 1st FHLM Movie with a Message Day at the new office/center. It was great fun watching Sunday School Musical and sharing after the movie about how we are to work in unity with each other. We had a good turn out and I thank all that came. Thank the Lord for allowing it to happen!
Missionary Update:
A team of 31 missionaries from Believers World Outreach came to Masaka from 21-27 June. We had the pleasure of working with the team’s outreach/evangelism team. During their time here that team was able to spend Sunday service with us at our church plant, Tabernacle Ministries Uganda. It was an amazing day listening to God’s Word and enjoying the beauty and peace of the village! On 23 June we got to minister to over 1,200 students–praise God—at Kijjabwemi Secondary School. The team members gave touching testimonies, as they shared with the youth. We have been praying that the Lord continues to move in the hearts of those young people. On 24 June we did outreach with King’s Kids friends of the Grands, an outreach to the elderly in the community of Kyanjale. We were blessed to visit and pray for 3 house bound elderly and then minister to another 15 that were gathered for a lunch meeting. Please pray for God’s continued care, provision and protection for these elderly people. Thank you! All in all it was a great time with the Believer’s Team and I am thankful for their time in the community of Masaka and blessed to work with them.
As you know I returned to Uganda in May. I praise God, as this is the first year that I didn’t have to ask anyone for money for my return ticket to Uganda, as the Lord had provided for it. But this has left me with no return ticket or money for a plane ticket. As you may have read or seen on the news recently there have been many terrorist attacks in Kenya and Nigeria and several threats at Uganda. I am always praying for the Lord’s protection and hand to be on Uganda, but I have to be smart too, so if there is a major crisis I need to be prepared to leave the country along with Rogers. I am asking you to please pray about contributing towards a plane ticket back to the U.S. for both of us. If the Lord lays this on your heart to contribute, please contact me via email. Thank you!
I thank you all for your continued prayers, love, care, and encouragement!! You are all such a blessing to the ministry and my family and I thank you!
May God bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand!
Love and Blessings,
Rita
