FHLM JULY 2025 NEWSLETTER

GREETINGS:

Greetings and God’s blessings from all of us at Faith Hope Love Missions (FHLM)! Wow the month of July has flown by, maybe because it was such a busy month for all of us! These verses are very fitting considering all that happened in July. Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

DIRECTORS FURLOUGH:

The last time I was in the U.S. on furlough was October of 2023, so it was wonderful to spend the whole month of July in Indiana and Colorado. This was my first furlough in the states during the summertime and it was lovely!

The majority of my 3 weeks in Indiana I stayed with my Dad and Step-Mom, Carol. My first week was a rest, relax, and recovery week at my Dad’s lake cottage. I was very blessed to re-baptize my dear friend, Karin.

After the rest the whirlwind started! I spent a wonderful 4th of July enjoying time with my cousin Angi at my Auntie’s cottage and the rest of the weekend with family at Dad’s lake cottage.

The next week was a week of surprises! First I was surprised by my Aunt Lisa, from Colorado, who came to Indiana for a visit and surprised me the day I spoke at Golden Years Homestead. This is what the director of Golden Years wrote about my talk:

–A Special Visit from Uganda

Today at Golden Years, residents enjoyed a heartfelt and inspiring presentation on missionary work in Uganda. Rita, who has been serving as a missionary there for 17 years, shared powerful stories of her work and the lives she’s touched.

Rita’s visit was especially meaningful, as her aunt lives in our Independent Living and her uncle in Assisted Living — making it a true family moment for the whole Golden Years community.

Thank you, Rita, for reminding us of the impact one person can make in the world!

The next surprise was on my Cousin Angi, as we all attended a Surprise 50th Birthday Party down in Cincinnati for her! I was so happy that we pulled that Big Surprise off!

That weekend my brother Rob was also in Indiana, from Colorado to visit Dad and Carol so it was quite the family reunion! It was the first time since my Mom’s passing, almost 5 years ago, that Dad, Rob and I were together. It was a special time!

During my time with Dad and Carol we visited the Amish community of Shipshewana, went to a Fort Wayne Tin Caps game, and explored around the community. I was blessed to be able to visit with my friends and supporters at Harlan Christian Youth Center, Debi, Damian, and Misty. They are all very special people to me! I was also able to give an update to the United Methodist Women’s Group and the congregation of Harlan United Methodist Church. I am very grateful for the people of this church and their long term support of the ministry.

Sadly it was time to say bye-bye to Dad and Carol and fly to Colorado Springs. My first weekend there my Aunt Lisa, Cousin Ally & her daughter visited my brother’s home and we had a lovely time together. The next week Rob Jackie and I enjoyed Colorado Springs! We hiked at Painted Mines Interpretive Park, had a family day at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and went to a wonderful western music show and dinner at Flying W Ranch. On the 27th of July I was blessed to speak at both services at Impact Christian Church. This church is always so welcoming and its members are a BIG blessing to the ministry! Afterwards the mission team members treated me to a yummy lunch. It was wonderful to spend time with my Woodland Park friends!

My Furlough Adventures continued into August, so there’s more to come in the August Newsletter…..Please stay tuned.

While I was gone Aunt Shakirah and Juliet keep things going at the Youth Centre. This is what happened and what they were up to in July……

She said that this trip was even more exciting than last time because they are able to visit more places. They went to Ntake Bakery, one of the country’s largest bread producing bakeries. Please keep them in pray for the Lord’s wisdom, knowledge, and understanding to be impart to them, so they are successful. Thank you!

YOUTH PROGRAMS:

BIBLE QUIZ: On 5th July 2025 the youth participated in Bible Quiz program which encourages every youth spiritually and helps them to grow in the Word of God. We had two groups; Jupiter-Pius, Ann and Josiah and Mars-Mark, Ronald and Juliet. Though everyone tried Pius had the Best Performance when answering bible quiz questions. When they played the Sword Game (Bible Opening) the competition became tight, but it was group Jupiter that won with 85 points and they received biscuits (cookies).

BIBLE STUDIES: Throughout July the staff and youth studied the book of Exodus from chapter 7 to 11. On 15th July they studied Exodus 9:1-35. They began with an opening prayer from Pius, readings through the chapter, and then an explanation of the chapter by Aunt Juliet. This is how the Spirit moved as they discussed the chapter:

  • Pius said that every plague had a significant lesson to Aaron and Moses and to the people of Israel. He said the devil is a liar! That the devil can’t leave you go and he doesn’t want us to come out of slavery, but with Jesus we can.
  • Mark said that God wanted to show His power and greatness through the plagues and that we should obey Him.
  • Ronald said that Pharaoh promised to leave the children of Israel to go, but he was lying. That we should be careful and fight harder to overcome the devil.
  • Shakirah said that the devil doesn’t want us to go very far! We should not compromise our lives to the devil.
  • Pamela shared about verses 26-29. She said that Moses gave a good reply to Pharaoh and he realized that God was controlling all the events and the Israelites. Whenever you feel like you need to do something, don’t compromise of the devil.

BROTHERS IN CHRIST: On 19th July Uncle Alpha lead the guys through a session about “Managing Our Personal Finance”, as men. He encouraged the guys that they should not just “eat“ every single schilling they get, but learn to save for the future. He said it is a habit they need to teach themselves.

He went on to say that one can use that family land as your source of income by planting some cash crops like green papers, cabbages, watermelons, or tomatoes, etc.  He said that someday every man will get chance to handle some big amounts of money, but few people are ready to grow money when it comes. That they need to have *Money Discipline*.

BELA BULUNGI (GOOD-BYE):

As you have read it has been an exciting month with a lot of things happening and we give God praises for ALL His blessings! To this end I also labour, striving according to His working which works in me mightily. Colossians 1:29 (NKJV)

Love and Blessings,
