FHLM DECEMBER 2025 NEWSLETTER

GREETINGS:

Greetings and Happy New Year! I hope you all had a beautiful Christmas! Sorry this newsletter is so late.

This is the verse that God gave me for 2026: “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?”.  Jeremiah 32:27 (NKJV). Amen, and Amen to this verse!

DIRECTOR’S UPDATE:

NEW YOUTH: We have welcomed Daisy Naleeba, 19 years old, into the FHLM family. Daisy was born in Mbarara (western Uganda), but when she was still small her mom and dad moved to Kampala. While in Kampala her parents separated and her father took her to the village of Kakundi in Rakai District to be raised by his mother, she was less than a year old. Her father stayed in touch for a few years, but since then has disappeared. She has never seen her mother again. Her grandmother, Maude, raised her the best she could and got Daisy through Primary 7 (elementary school) and then Daisy completed secondary 1 & some of secondary 2 (junior high). She has been working since in and around Masaka trying to help herself and her grandma out. In November she replaced Uncle William as the compound maintenance and security person at my home. She also resides in the girl’s quarters at my home.

That said, Daisy doesn’t want to go back to secondary school, but would like to take a technical training course in hairdressing. We would like to welcome her into the SOAR Youth Sponsorship Program so she can start school in February 2026. She would attend morning classes at Nuff Media & Skills Centre in Masaka. Then in the afternoon she would continue to work at my home, so she can earn money for herself and her 79 year old grandma. If you are led to sponsor Daisy for hairdressing course for the next 2 years, her fees per term are 400,000 ($115.00) and requirements per term are 150,000 ($45.00).  Please notify me via email at reetsindiego@yahoo.com Thank you and God Bless!

BIRTHDAYS: Eddy had his 23rd birthday on 5th Dec., but since he was at university he celebrated there with his friends from church. We wish him a blessed year and many more years of life!!

PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Please continue to pray for peace and God’s will for the Uganda general election campaigning and the upcoming presidential elections that is to take place on 15th January, 2026.
  • Please pray for our 3rd Term Holiday Programs and especially our Annual Youth Camp that is to take place 22nd to 25th January, 2026.

SOAR YOUTH UPDATE:

UNIVERSITY YOUTH: Justine, Eddy, and Immy ended their 2nd semester on 21st Dec. They were off for the Holiday season and return to campus on 06 January for their 2nd semester.

WILLIAM: He has been training with the Uganda Electoral Commission at a General Election Poll person. He will work for the Jan 15th General Elections that includes the president and members of parliament elections. Then he goes back on 19th Jan for 3 days for election of councilors, district chairpersons, mayors, and municipality/city chairperson & councilors. In between trainings he has worked a few days playing bass guitar for some local church conferences, and special events.

PAMELA: Since she has a long break till Advanced Levels (Secondary 5) starts she has been looking for a job to help out the family. After a few lost attempts she got a week long contract with a new bank in Masaka, Housing Finance Bank. She was helping people to set up new accounts.

PIUS: He is also working during this school holidays. He is helping to off-load large shipments of goods at the wholesale shops in town. This work isn’t every day but at least a few mornings or evenings a week.

YOUTH HOLIDAY PROGRAMS:

ARTS & CRAFTS: On 4th Dec the youth and staff painted on pieces of wood inspirational signs with words of encouragement and scriptures. We than hung them on the trees in the Centre compound. They really give a new “vibe” to the Centre.

DEBATE DAY: On 8th Dec we had debates with the theme “People should have the right to own guns.’’ It was a very interesting topic considering that in Uganda no one except the military, security persons, and special government official can have a gun. But since this is a big social and political debate in the U.S. I found the youth’s remarks and debates very interesting. I was the chairperson, Shakirah secretary, and Juliet time keeper. The opposition side had, Charity, Mark and Ruth, the proposition side had Pius, Ronald and William.

The opposition side had the following points on why people should not own guns; insecurity, and injustice, in cooperation within communities & families, it creates addiction, not effective, death, increase conflict, intimidation in the community, and increase on a crime rate.

The proposition side had the following points; security purposes, protection of property and life, reduction of high crime rate, promoting community unity, promotes economic development to the country through the taxes collected, source of food through hunting, reduces useless fear among our enemies, emergency preparations, recreational use—i.e. shooting ranges, and creates patriotism, personal responsibility and physical discipline. The proposition side was the winning side.

GIRL’S CONFERENCE: Ruth, Charity and Daisy attended a Girl’s Conference at River of Life Church in Nyendo from 11th to 12th Dec. The theme was Mentored to Mentor (2 Timothy 2:2) The first day was all about learning life-skills; peeling matooke, making liquid soap, and making cakes. The cakes they learned to bake them over a charcoal stove not in an oven. The second day was about teaching them spiritual skills. Aunt Grace taught about Bible Quite Time and Aunt Mary shared about this year’s spiritual disciplines of worship and fellowship. I was on the Elizabeth & Mary Panel led by Purity Akwagala, my old friend from Scripture Union. We mature Christian ladies shared about our Christian walk, gave testimonies, and answered questions that the girls had. It was a beautiful two days and very special for me be reunited with old friends!

BIBLE STUDIES: In December we studied Exodus chapters 25 and 26. We looked at the accuracy of God, and the order of God, as He instructed Moses and His people to build the tabernacle.  God wanted a special place for worship and his presence. It helped us to realize how blessed we are to be able to call on Him day in and day out and have His presence with us.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS:

CRAFT & DECORATING: Thanks to Ronnie and Pius, Christmas exploded at the Youth Centre on 15th Dec with lights, trees, and decorations everywhere. It was very festive! After lunch we painted and decorated jars and made them into candle holders. It was a fun and creative day!

ELDERLY OUTREACH: In the afternoon of the 16th we revisited the homes of the three elders that we had had outreach to with the Impact Church Missions Team back in Nov of 2024. It was a great day as the youth shared God’s word with them and we prayed together. We also blessed each elderly persons with rice, soap, sugar, salt, and bread. Each elder needed some help with various things like fetching water or cleaning house items and we were more than happy to help. We thank God for His provision, love and word that we were able to share.

CHRISTMAS PARTY: Our last day at the Youth Centre for 2025 was 19th Dec, in which we had our Annual Youth Christmas Party. It was a rainy day, so things started a bit late and not as many as expected attended, but we ended up with 38 people. After some board games, and praise and worship our keynote speaker, Ambrose Ssenteza, spoke to everyone. His theme was Jesus is the reason for the season from Luke 2:11

He taught about the birth of Jesus Christ, and how He was born to us to save us from our sins. As he read we understood that the darkness that was in Zebulon and Naphtali became light when Jesus was born to us. So, Jesus is our light and the light of the world. After the word we were blessed with a big, yummy lunch! To ward off our “food coma” we broke into teams and had a Christmas Carol singing competition and a few games. It was such a fun time!! Then we brought out the cake and sang Happy Birthday to Jesus! We ended this wonderful with a closing song and a prayer from William. This was the Youth Centers last open day of 2025, till 5th January 2026.

CHRISTMAS EVE & DAY: We had our annual Christmas baking and cooking time at my house on the 23rd and 24th of Dec. Of course we baked cakes, cupcakes, cookie bars, and Christmas sugar cut out cookies. This year we tried our hand at making fudge. It turned out very yummy!!

Then on Christmas Day I hosted Christmas Luncheon. After morning church service we came home and finished up a few last minute item as the 11 people for Christmas luncheon showed up! We ate about 2pm. After our feast we all went outside for some pictures and singing, and laughs! In the evening Pamela, Eddy and Joshua joined us and we played a few rounds of cards, and games, then exchanged gifts. But to end the day we broke out ALL the sweet treats we had made and enjoyed! We ended the day by singing Happy Birthday to Jesus and then had a prayer from Joshua. What a lovely Christmas!

BELA BULUNGI (GOOD-BYE):
