Easter Weekend
We had a wonderful Easter weekend. On Good Friday afternoon the boys and I went to a local fair. I was told there would be “circus” there and animals like elephants and camels. The “fair” was more like a bunch of company trade booths, a few booths selling African crafts, local food and Ugandan music blaring from massive speakers by the stage. It was different from what I was expecting but we made the best of it! However there were two carnival rides, swings, one for kids and one for adults. David asked if he could go on the “circus”, this is what the boys meet by a “circus” being at the fair. So different from my understanding of a circus. I explained to them what a circus in the U.S. is like. Back to David, he never had experienced a ride like this before, so of course I said yes! He was so excited! (See the pics)
The boys and I went to Sunday morning service and then in the afternoon the youth groups from several of the churches in Masaka gathered at my church, Masaka Pentecostal, to put on a dance competition called Step Up. (see the pics) There was a very good attendance with much fun had by all!! With many laughs and good times! We really enjoyed.
In Uganda everyone gets off Easter Monday and it is a public holiday. So nice huh? Yesterday, Easter Monday, the boys and I cooked all day and prepared a “feast” for us and friends. We had 7 people for dinner last night. (me, boys, Liz, Tom, Rogers and Aggrey). Then about 9pm Liz’s kids came over and there were 13 of us here! It was quite a night and we all enjoyed very much celebrating the risen life of Jesus!
