Celebrating Life

Anyone want B-Day Cake?

On 20 Aug we celebrated the life of “baby boy” Mukisa David! He turned 19 years young that day! When ask the week prior to his birthday how he wanted to celebrate it he answered with my family in the village and my family here in Masaka. I want us all to be together!

What's wrong Robert? I'm so full! I need a grader to move me

So that is what we did, Rock, Robert, David and I all traveled to David’s home village of Bukomansimbi to spend the day with his Mom, Uncle, brother, sister and extended family. As always we were greeted with big hugs and love! We spent most of the morning chilling village style on mats under a mango tree and having jackfruit and tea. About 3pm the birthday festivities started with praise and worship to the Lord, and thanks giving. Then a word from Pastor Dale and Pastor Rita (ha ha I’m not a pastor but that’s what they call me). After David’s Mom said a special Blessing on the day and thank us all for coming. It was then time for cake…yea! Of course David got the Ugandan tradition on being doused with water (by me of course). I think it is a sign of being born and rebirth but I’m not sure. Anyway, cake and sodas were had by all. After we all got “hopped up” on sugar we had an amazing lunch! It was so much food that Rock and Robert had to be moved from the house with a “grader”. Hehe It was the best matooke that I’ve ever had…yummy!

Hug from Mum

Unfortunately our day had to end and we had to start saying bye-bye. But as you know saying bye to family and friends takes awhile so after pictures, take home gifts of matooke & jackfruit, hugs, more hugs, and tears we all got in the van to head home.

We got half way down the road and someone yelled, “We forgot the jackfruit” so we turned around and went back. You can’t forget a gift!
Two hours later as dusk was upon us we pulled up to the house. A WONDERFUL time was had by ALL of us that day and I thank David for suggesting it and the Lord for making it happen!
