Alpha’s Testimony
My name is Mugerwa Arafat (Alpha). I still live at Masaka District; the village of Ssenyange which is where I grew up. My father and mother are still alive and for them they are Muslim. But me I changed because I was saved by the man whose name is, Jesus. At first I thought things were going to be easy for me, but they were not easy as I thought because I feared. One thing I was asking myself, “How is this going to be and what will people say about me becoming a Christian? To see that a guy who has been a Muslim, he is now a born again, what is he becoming?” This affected me so much, but through prayers God helped me.
Sometime back in 2012 I left home and went to work and stay in Kampala, but things were not good for me there. At that time I had a friend of mine who took me to church to have prayers. There was a pastor who was telling us the Word of God. He said close your eyes and pray through your heart and listen to the voice which is inside you. As I was listening I heard a voice telling me; “Come to me, give your life and I give peace. I will take away the pain that you have in your heart.” Seriously I am telling you my life changed and from that day, 24 Dec, 2013—Christmas Eve, I became a follower of Jesus Christ.
I came back from Kampala to Masaka in July 2014. I had not told my parents that I was born again because I feared. When I came back I decided to live with 3 of my friends and selling clothes as a Market Vendor in the local street markets of Masaka and Nyendo. In Sept of 2014 is when I found Aunt Rita. Aunt has helped me and right now I don’t care what people say about me. I was even able to tell my Mom that I changed and am a born-again Christian. While Mom took it as a joke, for me I am serious and only care about what God says about me. This is more important than what people say. I know God will protect me and guide me through this life.
