V-Day at Masaka SS
On Saturday I went to the boys 2nd Term Visitation Day at their school, Masaka Secondary School. I walked over to the school with Rock. When we arrived we found Robert busy with his Prefect Duties. Robert was named “Off Campus Prefect” for the school a few weeks ago. It is a great accomplishment for him. I went to register as a parent and have the registration desk call David as he is on campus this term in boarding. As Rock and I waited for David I looked around at ALL the students waiting patiently for their parents to come. David soon arrived and we greeted each other with a BIG hug! It was so good to see him!!
We all hung out and talked for a while than it was time for the task at hand, meeting the class teachers and getting beginning of term exam scores. I first saw Rock’s teacher and was pretty pleased with his exam scores even if he wasn’t. Rock said, “Auntie I need to improve on my English and Luganda scores. I know I’ll get better scores on the end of term exam”. I was still pleased with his grades. Out of 15 classes he received 6 distinction marks and the others were average. Not bad but I think I need to purchase a Luganda text book for him to study. As for the other two, David and Robert, well their beginning of term exams scores weren’t so favorable! I had a long talk with both of them and they insisted that by end of term their grades would be much improved. The next 2 hours of the visit was spent tracking down David and Robert’s teachers to discuss with them how the boys can improve their grades.
After the teacher talks we all visited the Art Building to see the S1 and S6 art projects. We were then on to the Food & Nutrition Building to buy some of the student’s practical baking projects. I got all of us a few tasty treats. They weren’t bad for kids baking them. Afterwards we all talked, caught up and laughed. It was good to ALL be together again after 3 months but than again it is only 3 weeks till term ends and were are all together for a month during the boys Holiday.
